What is a School-Home Compact?

It is an agreement that families, students, and teachers develop together to ensure that all students reach their goals.

Goals

District Goals:

  • ELA: SCS will increase the number of students scoring on-track or mastered on the ELA portion of the TNReady assessment from 49.3% to 60.3% in grade 3 by spring 2025.
  • Math: SCS will increase the number of students scoring meets/exceeds expectations on the math portion of the TNReady assessment from 56.0% to 58.8% in grades 3-5 in Spring 2025.

Howard Goals:

  • ELA: 45% proficiency in grades 3-5 on TNReady Assessments
  • Math: 62% proficiency in grades 3-5 on TNReady Assessments

School will:

We will support student success by providing:

  • A safe learning environment
  • 90 to 120 minutes of uninterrupted reading instruction
  • 60 minutes of daily math instruction
  • Extra help and monitor students’ progress
  • STEAM activities with cross subject area focus with a link to college and career readiness
  • 1:1 Technology to support academic standards

Home Will:

  • Help my child be on time and attend school daily.
  • Read together 20 minutes daily.
  • Talk about reading and math activities.
  • Participate in Take Home STEAM challenges
  • Ask you child these questions daily
    • one thing you learned today
    • one think you liked today
    • one thing you would change about today

Students Will:

  • Attend school
